About Katharine
Katharine Frazier is a proud Graham High School graduate where she was active in the fine arts program. Her public school experience gave her the chance to sing in Vienna, Austria and the White House. Even more importantly, at GHS she had teachers who cared deeply and had high expectiations, and who gave a shy, artsy-kid confidence to "jump in" and try big things.
Today, Katharine is a twice-graduate of Elon University (BFA and MBA) and leads the finance team supporting the Contract Packaging/Manufacturing segment of Ryder Integrated Logistics. She has been active in church and community, and has enjoyed volunteering in schools through the Reading Buddy program and attending career fairs.
To the ABSS Board of Education, Katharine will bring:

Katharine is an action-oriented and results-driven leader. She is true to her values and is willing to challenge the status-quo and engage in healthy debate to give our students a first-class education. She is a curious leader, aiming to first "seek to understand," especially from teachers in the field, and then make a plan to acheive shared goals.
Seek understanding of current use of classroom technology and develop evidence-based, future-forward guidance for teachers that promote healthy balance between pencil and paper methods, direct instruction, and intentional technology.
Critically consider and develop AI policy for both instructional and supportive use, ensuring we protect our students data and personal information and give our teachers the ability to leverage transformational technology.
Scrutinize contract renewals and third-party technology providers for outcomes, evidence and safety.
Advocate for prioritization of capital improvements that enhance school safety, so we are prepared in the face of the unthinkable.
Identify what support or training teachers need to maintain safe, orderly classrooms and allocate resources accordingly.
Explore opportunities to enhance our school nutrition programs to ensure our students' bodies and brains are fueled for learning.
Be a tireless advocate for curriculum that elevates history, geography, civics, science and the arts, especially in K-8.
Encourage adoption of district-wide goals that are specific, measurable, and achievable that include academic growth targets.
Support financial analysis and modeling to understand where there are gaps in funding, work internally to close those gaps using existing resources first, then develop a five-year plan to define what we need to close the gap and fully fund our schools.
